Appointments

Appointment requests can be made between 8am and 6:30pm, Monday to Friday by:

  • completing our Anima online form - This is the quickest and preferred route to request appointments.
  • calling the surgery on 01322 299790 - Please note appointment requests will still be triaged by a GP and you will not be able to book an appointment directly unless this has already been requested.
  • walking in to the surgery - Please be aware that receptionist will ask the same questions to determine the nature of the requests and without this information, a GP cannot triage your appointment. If your concern is private, please inform a receptionist in advance of providing information.

We aim to triage all requests within 24 working hours. Our Care Navigation team will respond within 48 working hours.

Urgent Appointments

  • can be booked online via Anima
  • can be booked with a GP on the same day if deemed urgent and appointments are available.
  • can be booked with a nurse, HCA, first contact physiotherapist or pharmacist if appointments are available.

Routine Appointments

  • can be booked online via Anima
  • can be booked with a GP, up to 2 weeks in advance
  • can be booked with a Nurse or HCA, up to 4 weeks in advance

Self Book Appointments

Self-book Appointments can be booked via our self-booking service which can be accessed through your NHS account online and via the NHS App.

You can self-book for the following services:

  • Physiotherapy First Contact Physio's are experts in the assessment and management of musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions and can assess patients with soft tissue, muscle and joint pain and advise on the most appropriate management.
  • Phlebotomy appointments are available through the week, early mornings. Appointments can only be made if a clinician has issued you with a blood form. We are only offering phlebotomy appointments to frail patients over 65 years and insulin dependent Diabetics.

Emergencies

Emergencies and serious issues such as severe chest pain, difficulty breathing or severe bleeding, should be directed to the emergency services by calling 999.

Cancellations or changes of appointments

If you cannot keep an appointment, please inform us as soon as possible so we can release appointments for other patients who need medical support.

Patients can cancel or change appointments by;

  • Telephoning the practice, where patients can select the option to cancel an appointment.
  • Responding to the text reminder sent to patients by the practice, in the lead-up to the appointment.

Your Appointment may be offered to you;

  • By phone
  • Face to face at the surgery
  • On a video call

Appointments by phone or video call can be more flexible. This often means the doctor or nurse can help you sooner.

Online Services

Patient Access is currently active where you can book routine appointments up to 2 weeks in advance. We will soon be discontinuing this service and moving to the NHS App.

NHS App gives you a simple and secure way to access a range of NHS services, giving access to patients to order repeat prescriptions, book and manage appointments, view their GP health record including test results and much more. Please speak to a member of our reception team who can offer you support with getting registered and accessing the NHS App.

Extended Hours Access Appointments

For convenience we may be able to offer you an appointment outside of the practice's standard hours, such as a GP, physio or phlebotomy appointment. The appointment may be offered in the morning Monday to Friday, between 7am and 8am, or in the evening between 6.30pm and 8pm. Our aim is to offer patients in our area, access to more convenient appointments. Please note, the services we offer within these hours will change through the year to fit patient demand.

Home Visits

You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice. Your GP will make a decision as to whether a home visit can be booked, based on the patient's medical condition and the urgency of the issue. Patients are requested to telephone before 10am to request a visit for that day. Emergency visits only will be arranged after that time. We ask that receptionists are given as much information as possible to enable the doctor to allocate priority to home visits. Please remember that several patients can be seen at the surgery in the time it takes to do a home visit.

Out of Hours

If you need medical help outside of practice hours

  • use NHS 111 online (111.nhs.uk) for people aged 5 an over
  • call NHS 111
  • call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency if you think someone's life is a risk
